anatomy
During my first semester, I was able to take an Anatomy class at Harper Creek. Although it involved a lot of labs and work packets, my teacher presented us with our biggest challenge at the end of the semester: a report. This was nothing like the standard book reports that we all know about from 4th grade. This report was suppose to be a detailed research paper on any disease or disorder of our choosing. We were allowed partners on this project and my partner and I choose to tackle Type 1 and 2 Diabetes. Not only did this project help expand my knowledge on a fast growing epidemic, but it helped strengthen my writing skills that I was working on in AP Literature.
AP government
Another addition to my senior year, was AP Government; in this class it was all about debates, key terms and important events. We never spent much time organizing our arguments into papers and that was almost completely true until my teacher decided to assign this paper. He told us to choose a side on the legalization of marijuana. It didn't matter if it impacted you or not, you just had to choose one side and support it. I had no idea which to choose, but after reading a dozen different articles for both sides and comparing the facts, I was able to decide.
career and personal development
My future. Out of the few papers that I have done in this class, this paper involved what careers I am considering for my future. I choose three possible career choices and each one had an abundant amount of information. The skills and writing techniques that I learned from AP Literature really helped me creatively organize my future goals into an essay. This paper wasn't only interesting, but it was fun to put together.
