apostrophe hand poem
These first two are a package deal. They both are papers based on an apostrophe: when you address an inanimate object. Being able to be creative with this project was fun. I am terrible at reading poetry and writing it so at the beginning this was a struggle. After I was able to actually write the poem (first document) the reflection (second document) came easily. The reflection was once again an expression of my thoughts and feelings and I absolutely adore being able to do that.
narrative
I loathe writing narratives because I am a very boring person. I never seem to have those amazings stories that steal the audiences attention, but I had to dig deep to retrieve this story. I wrote this about finding out about my dad's death. My main goal was to make it very suspenseful and really force the reader to want to read more and I think I did a fairly good job with that through syntax and diction.
girl
This was hands down my favorite project! Granted I am not the most crafty person, but I love too try and create meaning out of things. The paper below is my reflection for the craft that I made (picture coming soon) and hopefully accurately displays my thought process for the Rubik's Cube. I really wanted to emphasize the idea that we all reach a pivotal point in our live where we must decide if we will conform to society or remain our own person. This is based off of "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, which is a perfect representation of the mold that society tries to force you into.
othello
Another fun project! The focus for this assignment was Shakespeare's Othello and it was extra special because this took a group effort. We had to take a scene from Othello and rewrite it in a different genre. My group chose the unique genre of OG, or Original Gangster. It was so much fun creating the script and acting out the parts as a group and it also helped confirmed our understanding of Shakespeare's scene.
